Why would God create man who would sin?

Many people understand that Christians teach that God an all knowing and all loving God. They wonder how such a God could create people that do such evil and wicked things to other people. Since the Christian description of God is so all knowing and all loving, the existence of evil, hatred, and sin in the world is proof that there is no God or he cannot be all knowing and all loving. We will be looking at the creation of man and the sinful nature of man.

1.      When God created man, was it His intention that man would sin?

Genesis 1:27

Genesis 2:16-17

Genesis 6:7

Isaiah 5:7

Jeremiah 38:20

Malachi 1:6

Malachi 3:10

1 Timothy 2:3-4

Man was not created to sin. Throughout the entire Old Testament and the New Testament, the Israelites were admonished for sinning against God. He would continually call them to repentance and restoration with Himself.

2.      Why did God create men in the first place?

Genesis 1:26-29

Genesis 2:15

Deuteronomy 6:5

Ecclesiastes 12:13

1 Samuel 7:3

Jeremiah 24:7

Micah 6:8

God created man to be like Him and to take care of the earth. They were created by God to inhabit the earth, take care of the earth and to please God. They were created in the image of God and to acknowledge God in everything and serve God whole-heartedly. All of mankind was to recognize the reality and presence of God and to know God as God.

3.      Did God know that man would rebel against him?

Genesis 6:5

Joshua 24:19

Isaiah 5:20

Isaiah 46:9

Jeremiah 17:9

John 17:24

Romans 9:10-12

Ephesians 1:4

1 Peter 1:18-21

Revelation 13:8

God knew that mankind would rebel against him. That is why “before the foundation of the world” God had already established and identified the how and the who by which the restoration of His people until Himself would be accomplished.

4.      Did God create evil men?

Proverbs 16:4

Isaiah 45:7

Malachi 2:10

Romans 9:13 (Malachi 1:2-3)

God did indeed create all people, even those people who are evil. God did not create only the good and righteous people, but he also created people who are evil.

5.      When God created men that are evil, did God make them evil?

Genesis 4:7

Exodus 4:21

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Job 1:8-11

Matthew 13:37-39

Romans 9:14-15

Romans 9:18

1 Corinthians 2:14

1 Corinthians 10:13

James 1:13

Although God did create men that are evil and God will “harden” the hearts of evil men, it is not God that made them evil. They chose by their own nature to do evil and wicked things. The evil that we see is the result of Satan’s influence on the lives of people who choose to ignore God.

6.      Why do men sin against God?

Romans 1:21, 28-32

Romans 5:12

Romans 8:7-8

1 Corinthians 2:14

Ephesians 2:1-3

Colossians 2:13

1 John 3:6

James 1:14-15

Essentially, men sin against God because it is their nature. The natural man knows only how to sin and not to obey God. God did not cause them to sin; they are sinners by nature.

7.      Why didn’t God just create the good people and not the evil people?

Luke 7:41-43

John 13:34-35

John 15:12

Romans 4:3-5

Romans 5:8

Romans 9:22-23

1 Corinthians 6:11

Ephesians 2:4-6

God created the evil people in order to demonstrate His great love. Without the existence of evil in the world, no one would be able to understand the great love of God. Men have to understand the great lengths that God is and was willing to go through in order to have a relationship with him. It is the existence of sin in the world that enables the Christians to rejoice more fully and more completely in the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.
