Discussion on the the Jesus' Lordship, our servanthood, as well as the Millennial Kingdom

This was an open session that focused mostly on the Millennial Kingdom.

  1. Where does Beth-El stand on the doctrine of Lordship salvation?

Matthew 7:21-23; 6:24 Romans 10:9-11

The Lordship of Jesus Christ is incredibly important. Without properly acknowledging Jesus as Lord, in word and in deed, then it is inconceivable that a person is actually saved. The name of Jesus is not like a magic phrase that ushers in salvation. Apart from actually believing in your heart regarding the work of Jesus which must change your life to seek continuous obedience to Jesus as Lord, there is no true saving conversion.

  1. When Paul speaks of being a servant of Christ, isn't it more appropriate to speak of being His slave?

Romans 6:6

The word used for 'servant' is the Greek word 'doulos' which does mean slave. It identifies the relationship as the servant/slave completely yields himself to the one he is calling master.

  1. How does this impact the concept of women church officers?

Numbers 30

The scriptures are clear that the man is to have the responsibility of leadership. Responsibility in leadership does NOT mean that the man does whatever he wants to do but that he does is best for those he is leading.

  1. What is your understanding of the millennial kingdom?

Revelation 20 Isaiah 11

The general discussion was on loosely defining and evaluation the pre-millennial, a-millennial, and post-millennial views of Christ's earthly kingdom. The pre-millennial view is that Christ comes at the beginning of the millennial time period to reign. The a-millennial view is that there is no millennial period and we are essentially in the millennial kingdom now, since Christ defeated Satan on the cross. The post-millennial view is that the world becomes more and more Christ-like as time passes until everyone on the face of the earth is a Christian thus culminating in Christ reigning on earth. A quick look of Isaiah 11 necessitated a further study.
